Morocco Travel Itinerary: 7 to 14 Days of Discovery and Wonder

Planning a trip to Morocco? Whether you’ve got one week or two, I’ve put together an itinerary that blends the magic of the cities, the silence of the desert, and the charm of coastal towns — all based on the journey I would recommend to a friend.

๐Ÿ—“️ How Much Time Do You Need in Morocco?

Morocco is one of those countries where every corner has a story — so whether you have 7 or 14 days, you can absolutely soak in the vibe.
This itinerary works in two ways:

  • If you’ve got 7 days, follow the first week only.

  • If you’ve got 14 days, continue into Week 2.

✈️ Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca – Touchdown & First Taste

  • Land in Casablanca — Morocco’s modern face.

  • Visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most stunning in the world.

  • Have a seaside dinner at La Corniche — I recommend grilled fish or a good tajine to start your culinary journey.

  • Overnight in Casablanca (or head straight to Rabat if you're tight on time).

๐Ÿ›️ Day 2: Rabat – Morocco’s Elegant Capital

  • A quick train ride or drive brings you to Rabat, full of relaxed elegance.

  • Explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, walk through blue-and-white alleyways.

  • Don’t miss the Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

  • Try a mint tea at a local cafรฉ with ocean views.

  • Overnight in Rabat.

๐Ÿงฑ Day 3: Fes – The Heart of Moroccan History

  • Morning transfer to Fes — the spiritual and cultural soul of Morocco.

  • Dive into the Fes el-Bali medina — get lost (you will, and it’s okay!) in its maze of souks, artisans, and history.

  • Visit the Al Quaraouiyine University and tanneries — take a scarf with you, the smell is real!

  • Overnight in a riad (traditional guesthouse) for a true Fassi experience.

๐Ÿช Day 4–5: Merzouga & The Sahara – Desert Dreams

  • Long drive, but worth it. Head to Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert.

  • Day 4: Arrive and switch to camels for a sunset ride into the dunes.

  • Day 5: Spend the night in a desert camp and learn about Berber culture under the stars.

  • Try sandboarding or explore nearby Berber villages.

๐Ÿž️ Day 6: Dades & Todra Gorges – Nature’s Sculpture

  • Drive through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs — stunning views and great photo ops.

  • Explore the Todra Gorge, famous for dramatic cliffs and breathtaking landscapes.

  • Spend the night in a cozy guesthouse, surrounded by nature.

๐Ÿฐ Day 7: Aรฏt Ben Haddou & Marrakech – Finale or Midway?

  • Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aรฏt Ben Haddou, famous for its appearance in films like Gladiator.

  • Cross the Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass, a high point with stunning views.

  • Arrive in Marrakech by evening.

✨ For Those with 14 Days – Keep Going!

๐Ÿ•Œ Day 8–9: Marrakech – Colors, Chaos & Calm

  • Spend two full days soaking up the culture and history of Marrakech.

  • Explore the famous souks, visit the Majorelle Garden, Koutoubia Mosque, and Bahia Palace.

  • Dine on a rooftop overlooking the square while taking in the sounds of the city.
